An environmentally friendly future: Organic Electronics


Organic technology

As the road of technology continues to improve, the future of technology will allow for more innovation and better integration of technology into the modern world.  I believe in the future the conventional basis of technology Silicon will be replaced by more efficient and energy productive materials such as organic materials.

Organic materials are essentially made up of polymers and compounds consisting of varying levels of conductivity.  These usually include carbon based compounds.  With the continued interest in organic electronics, consumers will soon find the price of electronics and computing technologies rapid going down.
The advantage of organic materials over the conventional silicon materials is that it is far more efficient and inexpensive to manufacture. With the conventional silicon, temperatures and other manufacturing processes require expensive plants, sensitive equipment, and advanced knowledge.

Organic materials are environmentally friendly, can be mass produced inexpensively, can be sustained and recycled of properly and can be molded and offer flexible shapes of production. Organic materials can produce parts such as transistors, PCB, processors and other parts by electronic ink or classic printing methods.

Organic electronics will offer a bright, energy efficient and environmentally friendly future.  As of present prototype organic OLED displays have been developed by electronics companies such as Samsung and LG.  Prototypes demonstrated by these companies have gained great interest in the technology world and look promising for consumers alike.   With the advancement of organic electronics the possibilities of the electronics world are endless. In the near future, electronics, computers and all forms of technology can be made very inexpensive and reliable through printing presses. 

For example, organic materials can allow for solar cells to be made transparent to serve as a window and a solar panel at once.  In general, devices that we have today as our televisions, computers, and smart phones can be easily made by printing processes and would be very cost and energy efficient.

The Technology Printer

The technology of today is built in factories and designed by engineers and scientists. Everything from smartphones, computers, television sets, cable boxes, all forms of digital technology require high levels of technical and practical knowledge to produce. 

The future of the landscape of technology looks as if it would no longer need the large scale factories and plants required to build them. It might or will even become a common norm to hear conversations such as this one while walking down the street.

Zach: Hey dude, nice smartphone, where did you buy it?

Thor: Hello, I did not buy it.I made it in my room. I just took used my 3D Printer to make a new motherboard so that I could add in a new processor and screen.

Zach: O, awesome, I'll try that when I get home. I've been meaning to create a new processor and screen for my smartphone as it current;y has technology that is outdated.

Thor: Yeah, that sounds cool. I can send you some blueprints and diagrams if you like to give you an idea of what processor or motherboard you want to make.

 The conversation being highlighted above is based on the technology of 3D printing. 3D printing is the process of creating three dimensional solid objects from a digital model. The general concept is that a conventional printer uses a combination of parts and materials to print a two dimensional document or picture from a digital file. So in a nutshell, 3D printing is a technology that utilizes various materials in the printer to allow it to convert a digital file of a 3D Object into the real thing. 




Although this technology has not yet  been perfected, it is a very promising technology. This will mean that for manufacturers and consumers alike that it will now be able for them to create their own products in a reliable, cost efficient, and sustainable way. 

This also means that the manufacturing and technology world can drastically change to focus more on what the consumer wants rather than what companies produce.

Essentially what this means is that the technology that comapnies have to make their product will soon be available to consumers. This means that consumers will have the option of designing and making their own products from the comfort of their own home.

A techno dependent world

The world today has been completely revolutionized by technology. It has become completely dependent on the use of technology for day to day and general activities. 

It is not uncommon for smartphones to be found in major households globally. 
Smartphones makers such as RIM's Blackberry line of products and Apple's iPhone line have greatly helped to pave the road for mobile computing technologies. 


The massive rise of smartphones technology has helped the computing and technology industry to better understand a consumers' behaviour in relation to his/her needs. 



The introduction of the cellphone was a successful one for corporations and consumers alike. The cellphone proved that the benefits of desktop computing could be made available in a small compact and portable form factor. 

Over the years, the cellphone did not just run its course of just being a device used primarily for making and receiving calls, it started to be seen as a cellular device with a full desktop computing experience. With companies like Apple, Motorola,  Nokia, and RIM fueling the way for the cellular devices that offered more than the standard send and receive calls format, the term cellular phone was soon replaced by "Smartphones" in the last 5 years.   

The cellular technology of today has become synonymous with mobile portable computing. Consumers now have a clean elegant GUI (Graphical User Interface), increasingly advanced hardware and software systems seemingly integrated in a sleek artistic unit.

 Smartphones such as Samsung's Galaxy S3 and Apple's iPhone pave the way for what consumers expect in a smartphone.


     




Technology has become a major aspect of life. It is found everywhere and has literally become everything. From the smallest smartphones to largest supercomputers, the small world of silicon materials conceives the everyday computing tasks that we go about doing without giving much thought to it. Although the technology that we use is powered by the smallest pieces of silicon, technology has come to define who we are and what we stand for as members of society. Technology has allowed us to function on a unified plane where information, creativity and an abundance of knowledge is easily available on our fingertips.
